    Family Racing Event

    4/11/2016

Got a "need for speed"? Join St. Luke on May 1 at 4P at the Autobahn Indoor Speedway for a Family Meet Up Event. Cost is $19 for 14 laps for adults (must be at least 13 years old and 56" tall) and 12 laps for juniors (must be at least 8 years old and 48" tall). Laps are based on lead racer. Check their website for special offers for multiple races. Everyone must wear closed toe shoes and be able to wear a helmet. Racers under 18 years old must have a parent with them, bring a waiver, and have a photocopy of their parent's drivers license. Waivers can be downloaded from their website.

Autobahn Indoor Speedway is located at 6399 Shelby View Dr., Memphis, TN 38134. Please remember that we are not reserving the facility or getting a group rate. We are just meeting there and racing on a first come first serve basis so please do not call the facility asking about a St. Luke event.

Please let Jennifer Wright know if you will be attending (jennifer@ stlukememphis.org).

    LifeBlood at St. Luke

    4/7/2016

    Picture
LifeBlood will be at St. Luke on May 1 from 8:30A—1:00P in the CFC.

Lifeblood is the Memphis region’s only non-profit volunteer blood center, dedicated to meeting the needs of patients, healthcare facilities, medical professionals and the community at large. Every year Lifeblood supplies more than 100,000 units of blood and blood products for local patient transfusion.

Because Memphis is the eighth largest medical center in the United States and hosts the second busiest trauma center in the nation, the need for blood is constant. Unfortunately, over one-third of our blood supply is currently being imported from other volunteer blood centers throughout the country.

The donation process only takes about one hour and takes place entirely at St. Luke. Each donation of whole blood can help as many as 3 recipients—all of them our neighbors.

A sign-up sheet will be located on the bulletin board outside the office starting 4/10.

Please contact Jon Klein (jdklein18@gmail.com, (574) 250-2597), the St. Luke Lifeblood Coordinator, with any questions.

    Summer Worship

    4/7/2016

Pastor Cliff is going on Sabbatical this summer! Well… it's exciting for him, anyway. We will all miss him, but we're taking the opportunity to try new things. In June, July, and most of August, we will have one service. We have made most of the arrangements for fill-in speakers and pastors for the summer and we'll have communion just about every other week. We will have an organist in June and August. Now the Worship Committee is ready for some input.

Our next meeting is April 18, and we'll be making firm plans at that time. If any of you have an idea or two about different ways to worship or things to try, please let someone on the Worship Committee know. We welcome all ideas, and will try to incorporate as many of them as possible. Worship Committee members are: Pastor Cliff, Tanya Bolkcom, John and Barbara Behrends, Karen McCracken, and David Potter. We look forward to hearing from you and trying something different this summer!

    Annual Family Camp-Out

    Picture
The whole church is invited for our 3rd Annual Family Camp-Out in the "back 40"! All activities will begin on April 23 at 6:00P so come early to pick out your spot and set up your tent.

You are welcome to bring any outdoor toys that you would like to play with before it gets dark. We will have hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner, and fire pits will be set up for s'mores. The church will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks. Please bring a side to share and s'mores fixings for your family, as well as any other food or drinks you would like for the rest of the night. We will watch a family friendly movie on a big screen outside before bedtime.

Don't forget your lawn chairs or outdoor blankets for the movie! In the morning we will provide a light breakfast before the 8:30A service.

Please RSVP by Sunday, April 17, to fellowship@stlukememphis.org. Please indicate how many adults and children will be attending. If you have a fire pit that you would like to bring for s'mores, please let Jennifer Wright know (jennifer@stlukememphis.org).

    Here at St Luke ...

We seek God. We are a church that seeks to express our love for God in all that we do - with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30).
We serve others. The St. Luke church family has a heart to serve the community, loving each other just as God has loved us (John 13:35).
We share our lives together. No one here is perfect - we are all ordinary people who gather together to worship God, grow spiritually, and put our faith into action (James 2:15).
