TAUGHT BY PASTOR CLIFF - 9 AM SUNDAYS, CONFERENCE ROOM
By Heart is a richly illustrated, in-depth exploration of the Small Catechism. It is suitable for group discussion, an adult study or personal enrichment. This guide will generate meaningful conversations about the biblical and historical context of the Small Catechism, its link to the church's faith, and its connection to Luther's life and your life today. There is an accompanying facilitator guide and DVD that highlight the book for use in a 7-session course for longtime Lutherans and those new to the faith, as well.

Becky and Marcin will lead us in song around the neighborhood at 6:30pm on December 22. We will be handing out small gifts as we go and will have hot chocolate, apple cider, and cookies at church when we are finished.

We hope you can join us in this festive holiday event, as we brighten the nights of those around us with Christmas carols and enjoy time together during this often rushed holiday season.

Everyone is invited to join us at 11:15 am for our 7th Annual Brunch in Bethlehem. Stroll through the Bethlehem marketplace. Stop at different stores and observe the activities that are going on. Make crafts, have brunch, and visit Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. Have your picture taken as either an angel or shepherd.  We will also have some new activities for the adults this year! We hope to see you in Bethlehem, where there is room for everyone!

    December 8, Christmas Musical, 10 a.m.

    12/1/2019

    Picture
On December 8th during service, we will present a short Christmas musical titled, "Light of the World." This musical combines original songs and familiar carols from around the world to tell the Christmas story. Through narrative, drama and song, we will share how Jesus came to be the "Light of the World" over 2,000 years ago. The story begins with the story of creation, turns to the prophetic words of Isaiah, and then recounts the events of Jesus' birth.
This project will bring together the adult choir, the cherub choir, elementary school aged children, and members of the church youth to present this special story during worship. Opportunities for children and youth to participate range from larger speaking roles, to small non-speaking roles perfect for younger children.
Anyone interested in participating should contact Jennifer Wright (jennifer@stlukememphis.org) for more details. Adults not already singing with the choir that would like to participate should come to Wednesday evening rehearsals at 7pm beginning Nov. 13. (We are already working on it, but it is NOT too late to join us.) The cherub choir is working on their section during their regular rehearsals.
We look forward to sharing this with the congregation on Sunday, December 8th.

    Here at St Luke ...

We seek God. We are a church that seeks to express our love for God in all that we do - with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30).
We serve others. The St. Luke church family has a heart to serve the community, loving each other just as God has loved us (John 13:35).
We share our lives together. No one here is perfect - we are all ordinary people who gather together to worship God, grow spiritually, and put our faith into action (James 2:15).
