Second Sunday After Epiphany - Jan 17

The Sundays after Epiphany continue to celebrate the revelation of the glory of God to us as it was made known to the magi and to those on Jordan’s banks at the baptism of Jesus—today using wedding imagery. Our God rejoices over God’s people “as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride.” By the power of the Spirit there are gifts galore for everyone. In Christ Jesus the best wine is saved for last. Taste and see.

This is also when we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Read more.

Third Sunday After Epiphany - Jan 24

The glory of the Lord is revealed in the reading of scripture. People stand at attention. People weep. People prostrate themselves in prayer. The unity of the church is another reflection of the glory of God. Most gloriously, the promises of God are fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ. Gather round. Listen up. Glimpse the glory of God.

McKenna Duncan will be a guest speaker this week.

Fourth Sunday After Epiphany - Jan 31

The glory of God is often revealed when and where it is least expected. God uses our lips to declare that glory, inexperienced and hesitant though they may be. God uses our love to demonstrate that glory and so urges us to exercise it. God uses Jesus of Nazareth, water and the word, bread and wine, to reveal God’s glory where and when God chooses. Take heed, lest the glory of God slip through our midst unnoticed.

Paul White will be our guest preacher this week while Pastor Cliff is out of town.

The Rev. Lonnie Branch will preach at St. Luke for the congregation's Martin Luther King Jr. Service. Rev. Branch is the author of Reflections of Light, the Odyssey of a Black American Lutheran Pastor During the Civil Rights Years. We will have copies of his book available to purchase in January.  He is a former pastor of Atonement Lutheran Church in Atlanta, GA, and Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Mobile, AL.

We are very grateful for the Southeastern Synod Multicultural Grant that is supporting this event. We are also planning a congregational visit to the National Civil Rights Museum with Rev. Branch on Saturday, January 16. All are invited to join us in welcoming Rev. Branch back to our Southeastern Synod.

    Consecration Sunday - November 22, 2015

    11/9/2015

The Stewardship Campaign this year is "Stewardship: Our Service For All," which was inspired by "[Their responsibility is] to equip God's people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ" - Ephesians 4:12. After November, we should all be able to say "I want to help serve at St. Luke." The members of St. Luke have many members with exceptional God given abilities that should be shared with the church and our community. During the month of November, Stewardship has been showing how we can serve St. Luke and thank you for joining us as we give thanks to God for all the things He has given us.

Thank you for prayerfully considering your gifts to God through St. Luke for 2016. There will be an Estimate of Giving card in your bulletin this week. At the end of the service you will have an opportunity to place your card in a box for your confidential commitment. Thank you for answering God's call.

Southeastern Synod Assistant to the Bishop Dr. Ben Moravitz will present our message this Sunday at both services.

Stewardship will be providing a dinner this Sunday, November 22, at 12:15P to give thanks for all that you as members St. Luke have given. Come out and grab a plate!

Stewardship will provide stuffing and potatoes. We are asking members to provide the following:

Last name begins with...      Please bring...
               A-G                                 Desserts
               H-N                                 Salads
O-Z                                 Sides (other than potatoes and stuffing)

    Here at St Luke ...

We seek God. We are a church that seeks to express our love for God in all that we do - with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30).
We serve others. The St. Luke church family has a heart to serve the community, loving each other just as God has loved us (John 13:35).
We share our lives together. No one here is perfect - we are all ordinary people who gather together to worship God, grow spiritually, and put our faith into action (James 2:15).
