St. Luke is a welcoming, friendly, and caring congregation, with plenty of room for you! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I HAVE TO BE LUTHERAN TO WORSHIP HERE?
No. We welcome all to worship with us at St. Luke Lutheran Church, and hope you decide to join us often. We understand that everyone has questions, and hope you feel free to discuss your faith journey without criticism or judgment in our church.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Worshipers at St. Luke wear anything from jeans and tee shirts, to slacks and golf shirts, to suits and ties. Please wear whatever you feel is most comfortable for you in this setting.
WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS?
Children are always welcome to remain with their parents throughout the entire worship service. They are especially welcome to come to the front and listen to the short children's message that takes place toward the beginning of service. For those who prefer, we provide a nursery staffed with background checked and trained volunteers for children ages 0 – 3 years of age.
If you opt to have your child with you during worship, we have a carpeted “pray ground” area in the rear of the sanctuary with soft play toys. Busy Boxes, Worship Kits, Sensory Sensitivity Kits are also available in the narthex for children too old for the nursery to use and return after service. Caregivers can also roam the narthex with fidgety little ones during service and listen to the service via the sound system.

WILL I HAVE TO INTRODUCE MYSELF?
You won't be asked to stand and say your name. Since St. Luke is a small, growing community, you can expect to be greeted warmly when you walk in the door. After every service there is an opportunity to meet others over coffee and snacks.
CAN I TAKE COMMUNION? HOW DOES IT WORK?
All baptized Christians, who believe that Christ is truly present in the Sacrament, are welcome to share this meal. The contemporary service normally has communion by intinction, where you receive the bread in your hands and then dip the bread into the chalice of wine. The traditional service normally has communion by the common cup or by individual glasses that may be filled with either wine or grape juice. Grape juice is available as an alternative to wine. Simply ask the server for grape juice. If you choose not to commune, you are invited to come forward for a pastoral blessing. You may pause for prayer and then return to your pew by the side aisle. If you wish to take communion but are unable to walk to the front of the church, notify the usher and a server will bring the bread and wine to you where you are seated.
WHAT ABOUT THE OFFERING?
We certainly do not expect or require visitors to put anything in the offering plate, though you are welcome to do so if you choose.
IS THE WORSHIP SERVICE HARD TO FOLLOW?
We try to make our worship service meaningful and easy for lifelong Lutherans or for those who are new to the faith to follow. All parts of the service (including songs) are fully printed and displayed on the overhead projector, and there is an order of worship that you can follow along with in the worship bulletin.
